Opening Ceremony for Cumulus Seminar Jinan 2008

On July 4, 2008, with the topic of Design, Olympics & Harmony, opening ceremony for Cumulus Jinan 2008 was held at Changqing campus, Shandong University of Art and Design. The opening ceremony was hosted by Dr. Li Xin, Professor and Vice-President of Shandong University of Art and Design. The ceremony was addressed by Prof. Christian Guellerin, President of Cumulus International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media; Mr. Si Anmin, vice-secretary-general; Mr. Song Chengxiang, deputy director of Shandong Education Bureau; and Dr. Pan Lusheng, Professor and President of Shandong University of Art and Design.

Cumulus Jinan 2008 comprised three parts: keynote speeches, Leader’s forum, and exhibitions. Prof. Christian Guellerin, President of Cumulus, stressed the conference to “think about the future to achieve progress”. The attendant experts discussed over project design for the Olympic Games, ecological design, design education and social role of design, focusing on the themes of Design, Olympics & Harmony. The experts considered harmony stand for prosperity, peaceful coexistence and long-term development. As a common goal, the harmony between international community and cultural diversity has evolved into a shared vision of Olympic culture, making peace, friendship, equality, respect, and understanding go beyond the sports and competition and thus making us live in harmony. Harmony among people, between people and society, and between people and nature, highly regarded in traditional Chinese culture, not only contributes to Olympic Games and design, but also theoretically inspires the resolution of various problems of nature, society, and modern people.

The exhibitions brought great visual enjoyment to all participants.
